Air Duct Sealing

In a typical house, about 20% of the air that moves through the duct system is lost due to leaks, holes, and poorly connected ducts. These leaks develop as the connections begin to degrade over time. The result is higher utility bills, moisture issues and difficulty keeping the house comfortable, no matter how the thermostat is set.  (Insert picture of mold around duct work on drywall)

Having uninsulated duct work in your attic or crawlspace will cause your HVAC system to run longer,  often resulting in higher bills. Condensation can also occur on the duct work causing mold issues and system damage.

Outside air can enter your home through holes in the duct work or gaps in the floors registers, like this one.

It is valuable to have your duct work inspected often; looking for issues such as leakage, water or animal damage pictured above.

Its a fact, duct work breaks down over time allowing more and more air to escape before it enters your home. Simple actions can be taken to fix these issue, such as installing Mastic over the joints, caulking around the registers, and repairing the damaged insulation.
